Springtime in the Smugglers’ Notch, Vermont Area

Springtime brings maple sugaring, Mud Season, lambs and calves in the pastures, and a new year of growth throughout Vermont.

People and animals alike take advantage of the fair weather to escape the indoors. Biking, blading, climbing, paddling, and hiking take the place of snow sports, and tales of elusive trout make the rounds as the fishing season opens.

As Vermont returns to its green state, gourmets keep an eye out for wild fiddleheads and wanderers look forward to the appearance of Lady Slippers in the woods. The geese pass en route north, and bird song fills the air night and day.
